A thesis on paratuberculosis wins the fourteenth edition of SYVA Price

The award ceremony took place on the 31st of May 2011

This award, which has now reached its fourteenth edition, is granted each year to the best doctoral thesis in animal health, and has a prize of 15,000 euros. The award committee of Syva Price 2011 decided that the winning thesis was presented by Dr. Elena Castellanos Rizaldos. Syva presents ACTIONIS to its sales network

The event took place the 31st of March at Technology Park of León, where Syva's manufacturing facilities are located.

Actionis is an injectable ceftiofur (hydrochloride), that contributes to increase Syva's product portfolio. Ceftiofur is a wide spectrum cephalosporin that resists the action of the beta-lactamase enzymes, and it is active against Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria. VIV Asia 2011

Syva was present with its own stand at VIV Asia 2001. VIV Asia, the prestigious international trade fair was held in Bangkok between the 9th and 11th of March 2011

With nearly 30,000 visitors (40% more than in the 2009 edition) and 650 exhibitors, this fair is recognized as a meeting point for professionals of the livestock industry coming from the Southeast Asia region. Pyrsvac-183 does demonstrate its efficacy in preventing PRRS in piglets

Once a PRRS outbreak does show up, PRRS vaccination is highly effective and profitable.

Recent studies reinforce the efficacy of vaccination of piglets to prevent PRRS. According to these studies, the average daily gain is significantly increased in animals that were vaccinated with Pyrsvac-183. At the same time the mortality rate in the fatting period is drastically reduced.
